New York Times prints letter to the Editor by the Secretary General of WEA
ARTICLE In my last contribution as former head of the theology department of WEA before becoming Secretary General, I tried to stir up a discussion around the number of people WEA represents.
In addition to the German and English versions, an Italian translation has now been published. The English version remains binding in terms of content.
SPEECH Thomas Schirrmacher addressed the global dialogue of Evangelical Charismatic and Catholic Charismatic Christians with the speech „Catholics and Evangelicals and their Future together“.
During the handover ceremony inaugurating my term as Secretary General, I referred to Holy Scripture as the constitution of Evangelicals. Here is a slightly edited excerpt from my remarks.
A new book by Frank Hinkelmann introduces the development of the emergence of the Evangelical movement in its historical and theological perspectives and depicts in the later chapters the various developments in Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland. For the first time, the author also presents an analysis of the public reception of the Evangelical movement, whereby the focus is on the leading daily and weekly newspapers as well as political magazines in all three countries. A final chapter offers a definition of the term ‘evangelikal’ within a theological perspective.
