After our visit of the President of Lebanon we met Patriarch Gregory III Laham in front of the President’s palace, as the Pope had just excepted his resignation at age 84 and he officially said farewell to the President. So we just drove to his second official residence (the first one is in Damascus). I presented him a copy of my book „Kaffeepausen mit dem Papst“ (Coffebreaks with the Pope), which refers to him several times. The Patriarch is fluent in German. I especially thanked him, that during his tenure he initiated a large number of major social programs in the region.
