    In September 22, 2020, the Parliament of The Gambia declined the draft of a new constitution of Gambia. A campaign team of The Gambian Christian Council led by Begay Jabang, an accountant campaigned against the draft for one year and achieved several changes in the final draft of the constitution, but some grave obstacles were left unchanged.

Thomas Schirrmacher, PhD, DD, (born 1960) is President of the International Council of the International Society for Human Rights, and Secretary General of the World Evangelical Alliance, which networks churches with appr. 600 million conservative Protestant Christians, chair of its theological commission, and director of the International Institute for Religious Freedom (Bonn, Cape Town, Colombo, Brasilia), the largest research network for religious freedom and against persecution of Christians and other religions and world views.
