The Secretary General of WEA receives invitation by the Ministers of Environment to return to Ecuador and to Colombia
Carlos Eduardo Correa Escaf is Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development in Colombia. In 2012–2015 he was mayor of Montería, the capital of Córdoba. Due to his work in the field of sustainability, he was named the best mayor in the country. The Mayors’ Fund for London awarded him on their behalf as one of the 10 best mayors in the world. He holds a degree in Business Administration from EAFIT University in Medellín, has been Special Advisor to the President for the regions of the country and a professor at various universities. He has also been an external consultant for territorial development at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Cali).
Gustavo Manrique Miranda is Minister of Environment of Ecuador. He founded Soluciones Ambientales Totales S.A. (SAMBITO) in 2001 and has been its president ever since. Since 2010, he has also been chairman of CORPEI and CIMA Cumbre Internacional del Medio Ambiente. In particular, he created the annual Latin American Green Awards. Gustavo holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from EARTH University in Costa Rica and serves on its Board of Directors.
Both ministers recalled Schirrmacher’s visits to their countries and heartily invited him back to discuss matters of the protection of the tropical rain forest, of environment and human rights, as well as a better inclusion of Evangelical churches in such activities.
