Thomas Schirrmacher receives honorary “Doctor of Humane Letters” by Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi Christian University
Dear Dr. Schirrmacher,
It is my great pleasure to write to you today to inform you of the University’s resolution to confer upon you the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa (Hon. LHD).
You have dedicated your life to the performance of Christian good works, the advancement of Faith, the care of our Lord’s sick and poor, and the championing of basic human rights for the poor and marginalized in society.
You have had long and distinguished service as an educator, writer, pastor, evangelist, and philanthropist. Your dedicated service, Sir, has been and continues to be an inspiration to others.
You have received many prestigious professional accolades and recognitions for your outstanding contributions over the course of your career, Sir, culminating in your appointment, since 2021, as Secretary-General of the World Evangelical Alliance—a very important post in World Christian leadership.
In awarding you the Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from JHPCU, Dr. Schirrmacher, adding to those accolades already awarded, we especially wish to pay tribute to your profoundly important record in promoting respect for the dignity of all persons in advancing and promoting basic human rights.
Again, in our own small way, at JHPCU, by awarding you this honoris causa degree, we pay tribute to your sterling contributions and heartily welcome you—as an honorary JHPCU graduate—to our small and dedicated Community of Scholars.
Ad Multos annos!
On behalf of the University Community, Yours sincerely,
Prof. Craig Paterson, OStJ, MA, LLB, PhD, FSA Scot, Provost of JHPCU and Professor of Christian Humanities.
